  1. When I read The Davinci Code, I was less than impressed with Brown's writing style and his poor choice of theme and topic, but the prequel to Robert Langdon's first adventure is a masterpiece. Angels and Demons is a work truly untouched by the works and opinions of other authors. It does not question religion as did the first, but instead it moves the reader to understand the division between church and science during the Renaissance Era. Brown does a fantastic job of introducing Robert Langdon for the first time in the series. His female counterpart, Vittoria, is equally well-characterized by the author, as are most of the characters Langdon encounters along the way. This novel will have you on the edge of your seat until the last page. Even if you didn't like or didn't want to read The Davinci Code for obvious reasons, please give Angels and Demons a chance.
